Religious Customs of Panama

Festivals and other events and religious traditions in Panama.

The Day of the Dead:
[Desde muy temprano, las personas acuden a las tumbas de sus familiares para limpiarlas y adornarlas con flores.]
The Day of the Dead is a celebration of Catholic origin commemorating those who have died. The date of this religious festival is on November 2. That day is celebrated special Masses for those souls who, according to traditional beliefs, are in purgatory.

Parita Corpus Christi

The Corpus Christi holiday is a recognized part of the customs and traditions of our country and which brings together different cultural manifestations. In Panama, the feast of Corpus Christi is celebrated mostly in La Villa, province of Los Santos and Parita, Herrera Province, the latter being the subject of this article site.
Corpus Christi The name comes from Latin. Corpus Christi means Body and means Christ, that is the Body of Christ, which means that this festival has religious origin whose main objective is to exalt and worship the figure of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Santa Librada La Chola, one of the four images of the saint, is along the streets of Las Tablas in solemn procession every July 19. Note the large amount of clothes, flowers and human hair. All are offerings of the faithful.
As is tradition since 1996, on July 19 in the afternoon, the image of Santa Librada La Peregrina takes his usual route from the entrance of Las Tablas and through the main streets of the city are tamboritos, music violin and accordion, and whistle and box.

Religion in Panama

On the cultural diversity in the country practiced a wide range of religions, however from about 30 years is not known with precision exactly how much each group regulars because the Comptroller General of the Republic of Panama has avoided asking in the last three censuses, ie in 30 years, the religion professed by every inhabitant of the country.

Protestantism is a movement in Western Christianity whose adherents reject the notion that divine authority is channeled through a particular human institution or person, such as Catholic Pope. Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Christians also accept the authority of the Bible, but also consider the tradition, and in the case of Catholics, the Pope as a source of authority.

The Jehovah's Witnesses , better known as the " wearing ties on bikes " , which are religious and dedication selo evangelism is not comparable with any other neo-Christian group .


The organization of the Jehovah's Witnesses was founded by Charles Taze Russell in 1872. Russell was born on February 16, 1852 . His parents were Joseph L. and Anna Eliza Russell . Russell had great difficulty with the doctrine of eternal punishment in hell. However, throughout their studies not only denied this doctrine of hell , but also denied the basic doctrine of the Trinity Orthodox Christianity , the deity of Christ and the deity of the Holy Spirit . At first obtained his Christian principles of the sect of 7th Day Adventists Frustrated by his frequent differences between what he believed and what Adventists and other traditional Christian church as fundamental doctrines held in 1870 , at eighteen years , Russell organized a Bible class in Pittsburgh.

Buddhism

Buddhism is one of the major world religions in terms of adherents, geographical distribution, and socio-cultural influence. While it has long been a religion "oriental," has been gaining increasing popularity and influence on the western world also. It's a unique world religion in its own right, though it has much in common with Hinduism in that both religions can be called "Oriental," who believe in karma (cause and effect ethics), maya (the illusory nature of the world ) and samsara (the cycle of reincarnation) among other things. Buddhists believe that the ultimate goal in life is to achieve "enlightenment" as they perceive their existence

Judaism

The word Judaism refers to the religion, tradition and culture of the Jewish people. It is the oldest of the three monotheistic religions spread (along with Christianity and Islam), also known as "religions of the book" or "Abrahamic" and the least of them in number of faithful. From Judaism were broken, historically, the other two religions.
