Festivals and other events and religious traditions in Panama.

The Day of the Dead:
[Desde muy temprano, las personas acuden a las tumbas de sus familiares para limpiarlas y adornarlas con flores.]
The Day of the Dead is a celebration of Catholic origin commemorating those who have died. The date of this religious festival is on November 2. That day is celebrated special Masses for those souls who, according to traditional beliefs, are in purgatory.

Parita Corpus Christi
[El Día del Corpus Christi, se celebra la Misa Solemne, a la cual asisten muchos lugareños y también los ejecutantes de las diferentes danzas.]
The Corpus Christi holiday is a recognized part of the customs and traditions of our country and which brings together different cultural manifestations. In Panama, the feast of Corpus Christi is celebrated mostly in La Villa, province of Los Santos and Parita, Herrera Province, the latter being the subject of this article site.
Corpus Christi The name comes from Latin. Corpus Christi means Body and means Christ, that is the Body of Christ, which means that this festival has religious origin whose main objective is to exalt and worship the figure of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pilgrimage and Parade in honor of Santa Librada

Santa Librada La Peregrina, one of the 4 images of the saint who is venerated in the city of Las Tablas.
Santa Librada La Chola, one of the four images of the saint, is along the streets of Las Tablas in solemn procession every July 19. Note the large amount of clothes, flowers and human hair. All are offerings of the faithful.
As is tradition since 1996, on July 19 in the afternoon, the image of Santa Librada La Peregrina takes his usual route from the entrance of Las Tablas and through the main streets of the city are tamboritos, music violin and accordion, and whistle and box.

There is no exact date for the beginning of devotion to Jesus Nazareno de Atalaya, but by 1730 this population came from pilgrims, San Francisco, La Mesa, Montijo, La Villa de Los Santos, Las Palmas, Santiago, and other villages to venerate the miraculous image, in a very modest little wooden chapel walls, floor and ceiling of stalk.
Importantly, as an element of culture, religion plays a role of paramount importance in the idiosyncrasies of the people, and without a doubt, the pilgrimage to Atalaya and devotion to the Nazarene are two of the most representative of the Panamanian .
